Teacher Librarian Ning

The 21st Century Information Project & Joyce Valenza’s Teacher Librarian Network are teaming up to create a ning based Information Fluency Project Group.  I’ve been a huge fan of Joyce’s Never Ending Search blog.   I worked with her, publishing some of her thinking in the IMSA’s 21CIF Resource Kits.  I’ve been pondering how to take all of the materials we’ve been developing at the 21cif portal into the Web 2.0 world.  Just a few conversations with Joyce have helped me see the way.

First Step:  Announcing the 21st Century Information Fluency Project Group on NING

You are invited! We’re looking for interested educators and library media specialists to join our group as we work to network and share resources.

The 21cif project will be providing a rich vein of original content: flash games, assessments, podcasts, moodle courses, scorm based assessments. The Teacher Librarian Ning brings an active community of nearly 700 educators and librarians. Together we’ll work to get out on the cutting edge to discuss how we can get folks off the fence and into the Web x.x swim of things.

Ning provides a social network for anyone who cares to build one..for free. The tools include blogs, discussion forums (the basis for group formation) video, photo, mp3, friends lists, profiles… the basics for making it easy to talk to each other.

Here’s what edition one looks like:
