Teachers are needed in all disciplines, including ESL. National and international applicants are welcome. DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES: Works with the Center for Teaching and Learning and Technical Training Solutions in developing course content for academic and custom training resources. Works as part of a team of educational technology colleagues and plays a leadership role in assisting faculty in the design, development and transformation of teaching and learning with technology. Assists with instructional goals including course and curriculum and graphic design support; facilitates the instructional design process to assist faculty in developing effective methods for delivering instruction using technology in multimedia classrooms, online and hybrid classes and streaming video; develops educational materials and provides training sessions for faculty. Responsible for coordinating course support services and providing information to faculty, staff, and clients concerning distance learning. Responsible for troubleshooting online course technical and delivery problems. Maintains and monitors ITV classrooms. Collaborates with the Center for Teaching and Learning in scheduling and presenting e-learning professional development workshops for college-wide staff. Assess, develop, and maintain E-Learning web site. Review and prepare narrative and statistical reports. Assists the director with marketing activities for e-learning instructors and courses. Occasional instruction loads and other duties as assigned.

SALARY: Based on Faculty Salary Schedule. Excellent benefits.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Five years of experience working with faculty in higher education as an instructional designer with technology focus and competence. Experience with current educational technologies and comfort with learning and teaching faculty to use new educational technologies as they emerge, are required. Experience with and a demonstrated track record of researching trends and best practices in higher education teaching and consultation work with faculty are essential. Prior teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and implement faculty development programs in educational technology is preferred.

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Systems Technology or a related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications (word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software). Some knowledge of video editing and copying processes. Working knowledge of current Web development software and collaboration tools required. Comprehensive understanding of instructional development methodology, design of effective distance and hybrid instructional modules, courses, and programs. In-depth knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver and Flash; Visual Studio for Web application and VB.Net preferred. Experience with Angel learning management system is preferred. Strong editing skills are needed. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and facilitation of team effectiveness. Must have good organizational and time management skills. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs. Some evening, weekend, and overtime work may be required. Ability to work under stress, to work independently and as a team member and to deal with people in a professional manner.

Gifted LearningLinks is the online distance-learning program of the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University. We currently offer over 100 courses to students in grades three to twelve, including enrichment, honors and AP®. The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accredit CTD as a Special Function School.

Beginning in the fall of 2008 we will introduce monthly enrollments for our honors courses. Honors courses are nine months in duration, but students may accelerate. We are looking for an instructor who will begin October 15th.
