Environmental Science Curriculum Writer: Temporary, Advanced Academics
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Bricktown, Oklahoma City, Okla., Advanced Academics, a company affiliate of DeVry, Inc. partners with school districts to help high school students graduate and succeed. Advanced Academics supplements traditional classroom programs through online course instruction using highly qualified teachers and a proprietary technology platform specifically designed for secondary education. Advanced Academics also operates virtual high schools in partnership with school districts and charter schools in 6 states.
The Curriculum Writer is responsible for planning, designing, and writing content and assessments for the development of an online secondary Environmental Science course and associated assessments. The Curriculum Writer must possess strong knowledge in subject area and instructional design practices. Strong written communication skills are necessary in order to ensure that the course content is engaging and covers the topics necessary to meet the appropriate state and national education standards. The Curriculum Writer must be able to provide content and assessment items that are rigorous and correlate to middle and higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy and that meets Lexile readability standards. Previous teaching experience in Environmental Science strongly preferred.

Online Instructional Designer: Temporary, Advanced Academics

The Instructional Designer is responsible for reviewing, revising, and packaging written secondary academic content for Advanced Academics. The Instructional Designer reviews academic content and makes recommendations for increasing the level of instructional quality, engagement, usability, and learning. The Instructional Designer is also responsible for reviewing and writing reliable and valid assessment items.
The Instructional Designer must have background in Instructional Design, familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to work with a web-based learning management system. The Instructional Designer must also be able to meet rigorous deadlines and shift focus quickly in response to a diverse set of duties.

Online Content Editor: Temporary, Advanced Academics

The Content Editor is responsible for ensuring that written content and assessments from all subject matters adhere to Chicago style. The Content Editor must possess exceptional attention to detail, knowledge of grammar and punctuation, and an eye for consistency. The ability to edit a large volume of content and assessments while still maintaining error-free and consistent prose is required. The Content Editor must work with in-house style guides and also Chicago style guidelines. An outstanding candidate would possess familiarity with Lexile reading levels and have experience rewriting content to match certain grade levels.
