1. Instructional Designer/Coordinator of E-Learning Initiative # 09-64

The University of the Pacific has an excellent opportunity for a university-wide Instructional Designer and Coordinator of E-Learning Initiatives. This position is within the Center for Professional and Continuing Education reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Professional and Continuing Education working closely with the Assistant Provost for Faculty Development and the Faculty Center staff. The successful candidate will provide instructional design support for hybrid and fully online courses and programs to be delivered both domestically and internationally. He/She will work with subject matter experts to design, develop and deliver courses that include best practices for academic and training formats integrating multiple technologies and incorporating new media such as audio, video and interactive media. The successful candidate will also coordinate university e-learning initiatives lending guidance and expertise based on online and traditional teaching and learning research.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:

Applicants should have a minimum of three years experience in online instructional design including the integration of technology into both face-to-face and online instruction at the university or comparable level; a Bachelor of Science degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, multimedia education, education with online teaching emphasis, or educational technology; an appropriate graduate degree is preferred. Valid driver’s license and eligibility to be insured by the University of the Pacific. Knowledge of instructional design theories, pedagogical methods, and online/hybrid teaching strategies; familiarity with accessibility guidelines and copyright laws; demonstrated ability using academic technology teaching strategies, such as: instant messaging, discussions, web conferencing, blogs, podcasting, wikis, social networking, surveys, exams, and assignments as evidenced by the presentation of a portfolio demonstrating ability to develop courses, best practices, training resources, etc. is required. Ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and organizational skills; have experience designing and delivering programs and courses for the international marketplace; and have experience working with adult learner programs in a professional and continuing education environment.

Responsible for advancing institutional assessment practices; supporting faculty across the three campuses in developing learning assessment outcomes, measures, and procedures; and supporting the program review process.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:

Doctorate or terminal degree, minimum of five (5) years experience in a postsecondary institution demonstrating proficiency and understanding of both theory and practical application of learning assessment, planning, and methods in a higher education environment, skill in qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting , knowledge of academic program planning and review or the equivalent of education, training and experience.
