<p>The American Academy is looking for a Director of Curriculum and Instruction to join our team. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the curriculum projects; hiring, training, and managing online instructors; resolving content and instructional issues; and supporting state approval and accreditation activities.</p>
<p>Our ideal candidate has online high school teaching or administration experience, with an interest in open content and instructional best practices.</p>
<p>This is a full-time position located at our school office in Salt Lake City, Utah. Compensation is $55-70k annually, plus performance-based bonuses up to $20k per year.</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>
<p>*Interview, hire, train, and manage online instructors.<br />
*Develop and implement teacher personal professional development plans and evaluations.<br />
*Work with the CAO to plan and implement various curriculum projects, including the organization and development of digital assets.<br />
*Manage standards alignment and course approval processes.<br />
*Participate in accreditation activities.<br />
*Serve as an escalation point for Student Services to resolve content and instructional issues.</p>
<p>Desired Experience and Requirements:</p>
<p>*Minimum BS or BA from a 4-year college or university<br />
*Minimum 2-year stay at all previous employment<br />
*2-3 years experience in online high school teaching and/or administration required<br />
*Persuasive and engaging written and oral communication skills<br />
*Curiosity and good listening skills are critical. Ability to adapt to different social styles over the phone.<br />
*Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently<br />
*Working knowledge of web-based applications for online learning, including learning environments and web-based development tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent.</p>

<p>The University of the Pacific has an excellent opportunity for a university-wide Instructional Designer and Coordinator of E-Learning Initiatives. This position is within the Center for Professional and Continuing Education reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Professional and Continuing Education working closely with the Assistant Provost for Faculty Development and the Faculty Center staff. The successful candidate will provide instructional design support for hybrid and fully online courses and programs to be delivered both domestically and internationally. He/She will work with subject matter experts to design, develop and deliver courses that include best practices for academic and training formats integrating multiple technologies and incorporating new media such as audio, video and interactive media. The successful candidate will also coordinate university e-learning initiatives lending guidance and expertise based on online and traditional teaching and learning research.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:</p>
<p>Applicants should have a minimum of three years experience in online instructional design including the integration of technology into both face-to-face and online instruction at the university or comparable level; a Bachelor of Science degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, multimedia education, education with online teaching emphasis, or educational technology; an appropriate graduate degree is preferred. Valid driver’s license and eligibility to be insured by the University of the Pacific. Knowledge of instructional design theories, pedagogical methods, and online/hybrid teaching strategies; familiarity with accessibility guidelines and copyright laws; demonstrated ability using academic technology teaching strategies, such as: instant messaging, discussions, web conferencing, blogs, podcasting, wikis, social networking, surveys, exams, and assignments as evidenced by the presentation of a portfolio demonstrating ability to develop courses, best practices, training resources, etc. is required. Ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork and organizational skills; have experience designing and delivering programs and courses for the international marketplace; and have experience working with adult learner programs in a professional and continuing education environment.</p>

<p>Miami University&#8217;s regional campus cohort &#8212; consisting of Miami University Hamilton, Miami University Middletown, and the new Voice of America Learning Center in West Chester &#8212; seeks a talented and accomplished individual as its first Director of E-Learning. The Director will champion, manage, and coordinate all e-learning initiatives. As such, he/she will have considerable administrative, academic, and technical responsibilities. Examples of such responsibilities entail but are not limited to: developing policies and procedures to facilitate distance learning initiatives; coordinating and managing annual budgets; supervising staffing and training; assessing the effectiveness of distance learning programs; facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of distance education courses; acting as a liaison between IT staff and faculty; and monitoring new products in distance education. The Director will work with registrars, IT Services staff, libraries, CELT and CTL, as well. He/she will report directly to the two Associate Deans for Academic Affairs at MUH and MUM.<br />

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p>Require: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in successful distance learning or continuing education programs within a higher education environment, including successful budget development and oversight; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Strongly desire: demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and provide leadership and supervision to others; experience with personnel supervision and marketing; demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and assessing e-learning programs in fully online, blended, and other delivery modes; experience with purchasing, personnel supervision, marketing, working with non-traditional students, and fiscal management; familiarity with regional campuses.</p>
<p>Salary: $65,000-$75,000 annually</p>

<p>An exciting opportunity awaits a successful candidate to work in a professional, collaborative role with instructional designers and E-Learning team members to provide friendly, knowledgeable support to end users.  You will be responsible for building online courses and components for on-campus courses through the use of templates applied to course content in the College’s learning management system.  Provide technical customer service to faculty and students; meet tasks objectives and timelines; monitor and expedite the progress of courses during production to assure the readability, coherence, accuracy, and conformity to style and quality standards in course materials.</p>
<p>This position requires the finalist to have Web and other Internet technology skills to provide students, faculty, and administrators with high quality and robust courses offered through the College’s online curriculum.  Must have proficiencies with HTML, editing tools for Web text and graphics, as well as principles for creating accessible and usable Web pages.  A Bachelor’s degree, excellent writing, editing, and documentations skills, as well as a positive approach to customer service, and the ability to effectively complete tasks and projects in a deadline-driven environment is necessary for success in the role.  Prior experience fielding customer service calls and emails is preferred.  <em><strong>Telecommuting may be possible.</strong></em></p>
